Frequently asked questions
Once you request a quote with Move Your Ride, we contact carriers in our vast network and find a reliable, dependable carrier that will move your vehicle at the best price possible within your time frame, and that is heading towards your vehicle destination.
The carrier will work with you and us to pick up or deliver your vehicle at a safe area with enough room for the truck to maneuver. This may be a truck stop, auction parking lot, shopping center or some other location where the carrier can load or unload your vehicle safely.
Use this handy checklist to get vehicle ready to go.
Keys/Fobs-You must provide your carrier with keys/fobs to the doors, ignition, gas cap (if locking), and any locked compartment. If you do not have two sets of keys, please make copies for the driver and keep the originals with you. Make sure that all keys/fobs are programmed and work properly.
Do not fill your gas/fuel tank. Due to DOT weight regulations, we recommend your gas tank be at less than 1/4th tank. Please make sure to leave yourself enough to get to a gas station near the destination.
Don’t over pack anything in your vehicle. Light and soft personal items, luggage or small boxes may be shipped inside the trunk only (100lbs max). A child car sear seat, spare tire and jack are integral parts of the vehicle so they may be included. You may/will be asked for additional compensation if your vehicle is over-packed or requires removing anything that is not permanently mounted or bolted to the vehicle.
There can be NOTHING obstructing the windows. This is mandatory for the safety of our crew. Our drivers often must load vehicles onto the trailer with the side-view mirrors folded in, using only the windows. If their view is obstructed the potential for damage and injury increases greatly.
Trailer Hitch “Stinger” If your vehicle has a receiver hitch with a stinger/ball assembly, please remove it prior to transport. You may put it in the trunk or back of the vehicle, or keep it with you.
Do NOT pack Firearms, Weapons, Fire Extinguishers, Jewelry, other high-value items, drugs or other contraband in your vehicle. Move Your Ride and your Carrier Will NOT be held liable for any high value items lost, missing or damaged.
Alarm systems: If there is an alarm system, it must be disconnected prior to pick up, or the alarm remote must be provided.
Disabled/Inoperable vehicles: If your vehicle is inoperable, it must be in a safe location with easy access, with tires inflated, fully operational brakes and steering.
Over-sized/modified/Upfit vehicles: Unless otherwise previously noted to our team, Vehicles that are factory stock cannot exceed certain height or clearance. All vehicles MUST have at least 6 1/2″ inches ground clearance, and not exceed 7′ feet tall or 8′ feet wide, otherwise we may not be able to accept your vehicle for a regular auto trailer which will increase your estimated rate.
The vehicle must be clean. Our drivers are required to take a minimum of 6 pictures and do a walk-around of the vehicle on pick-up and delivery. In order to make the walk-around process go smoothly with your driver, please have your vehicle cleaned prior to transport.
Do NOT keep important paperwork inside your vehicle, such as your Title or any other personal document that is important to you. If you do have any important papers in your vehicle, please remove them prior to transport.
If you go by this list, it will assure that your experience with your driver is a pleasant and smooth process.
There is no charge to schedule a pickup. When the driver arrives and the vehicle is loaded, we require a $250 deposit on trips of over $500, or 1/2 of the total under $500.
Once your vehicle is delivered and the driver completes the delivery process with the walk-around and pictures, the remaining balance must be paid in full. We accept Visa, Master Card, Discover, American Express, Pay Pal and Zelle.
Do NOT pay your Driver/Carrier. Move Your Ride will pay your carrier. If you choose to tip your driver for exceptional service, that is between you and your driver. It is not mandatory and please do not feel obligated to do so.
